Η phobia is one Anxiety Disorder which entails excessive and persistent fear for one condition or one object. Exposure to the source of fear causes immediate stress reaction. The phobias is one of the most common mental illnesses; worldwide. The Women have a more chances to appear phobias than men. 


Symptoms of phobia


The typical symptoms of the phobia may include: 

  • Motion sickness
  • Trembling
  • Tachycardia
  • Feeling like it's not really happening 
  • Instability
  • Sweating
  • Shortness of breath
  • Stomach disorders

What are the phobias?


There are five (5) types of phobia:

    1. The phobias about livestock
      1. Arachnophobia - fear of spiders
      2. Entomophobia - fear of insects
      3. Ornithophobia - fear of birds
    2. The environmental phobias
      1. Brontophobia - fear of lightning
      2. Thalassophobia - fear of the sea
      3. Hypsophobia - fear of heights
      4. Noctophobia - fear of the dark
    3. The phobias concerning specific situations
      1. Aerophobia - fear of flying 
      2. Agoraphobia - fear of crowds 
      3. Claustrophobia - fear of closed spaces
      4. Odontophobia - fear of the dentist
    4. The physical phobias
      1. Emetophobia - fear of vomiting
      2. Microbiophobia - fear of germs
      3. Needle phobia - fear of needles
      4. Hemophobia - fear of blood
  • Other phobias
    1. Clownophobia - fear of clowns
    2. Pedophobia - fear of dolls


Reasons for fear


 The phobias they do not seem to have a single cause, but there are several factors associated with them. Let's go see them.

  • it may be linked to a specific incident or wound
  • it can be a learned reaction that a person develops early in life from a parent or sibling 
  • genetics may play a role 
  • there is evidence to suggest that some people are born with a tendency to be more anxious than others


Ways of dealing with


Most phobias can be treated with success. The simple phobias can be treated through it gradual exposure to the object, the animal, place or situation which causes fear and anxiety. This is known as desensitization or self-exposure therapy

 The treatment of complex phobias often takes longer and includes talking therapies is covered, such as: 

  • Consulting
  • Psychotherapy
  • cognitive behavioral therapy 

It can also be prescribed Medication to help in stress caused by certain phobias. Medicines that may be used include: 

  • antidepressants 
  • sedatives
